Today marks a significant milestone in App Press' history. We are launching a free forever account called the Build Plan.
App Press was founded in 2010 with the goal of helping anyone make an app. After 5 years of development, and hundreds of loyal customers, we've decided to release App Press to everyone. Our new Build Plan allows anyone to create apps without coding.
This plan gives students, entrepreneurs and businesses of all sizes the power to make apps for free. You will pay nothing until you're ready to publish your app, or you hire our team for custom feature development.
With the Build plan, you will have access to every feature of App Press. You'll be able to create and share your own apps without having to learn how to code.
More importantly, App Press makes sharing your apps easy. As you build your app, you can create a link to send to anyone you want. They'll be able to use App Press Now, our mobile previewing app, to preview the app you've created. App Press Now is free, available in both the App Store and Google Play, and is the best way for anyone to give you feedback and help you improve your app before you publish.
We believe creativity at its essence requires the right tool. We think App Press is that tool when it comes to making and sharing apps.
Since 2011, 2,000 people have had access to App Press. We limited public access to our software on purpose. We wanted to perfect the experience. Build a solid revenue base, and maintain positive cash-flow.
We wanted to ensure our platform was able to scale, and to do this, our team needed to validate five things:
- App Press was easy to use
- You'd be happy with the experience
- Customers could build great apps that would be popular in the app stores
- Our servers could support thousands of simultaneous customers using the platform
- Our servers could support over 1,000,000 users interacting with App Press powered apps
After publishing over 300 apps to the App Store and Google Play, we've validated these five things.
Our team is ready for the next evolution of App Press. We are eager for more feedback, and we are excited to see what folks build and share.
